Is it possible to use an Azure virtual machine that's setup as a domain controller to manage virtual machines hosted on other Azure subscriptions?
Thanks
I tried to reserve an IP address using the cmdlet
New-AzureReservedIP -ReservedIPName "DSTPlusIP" -Label "DSTPlusIP" -Location "West Europe" but I got (after about 10-15 minutes) an internal server error.
Now (after about 12 hours) if I use Get-AzureReserverdIP I can see the reserved IP I tried to create with the correct name, label and location, but the status is "creating", InUse is of course false and the IP Address is empty.
I tried to delete it using Remove-AzureReservedIP -ReservedIPName "DSTPlusIP" -Force but again I get an internal server error (after about 10-15 minutes)
I would really like to be able to delete this item before I try to create a new reserved IP (same name or different one)
Any idea about the causes or possible solutions?
Thanks
Carlo
Hi, I have been using VPN to connect to on-premise machines from azure VMs. Since yesterday the VPN is getting disconnected repeatedly. I deleted the VPN instance from my machine and downloaded 64 bit client VPN package from azure portal. I ran that exe which installed the files in my system. The installed files are named as '44e272d5-32d0-498f-8644-5c9abf98f9dd.***'. My virtual network id is also '44e272d5-32d0-498f-8644-5c9abf98f9dd'. Earlier network name in 'Network Connections' used to be '44e272d5-32d0-498f-8644-5c9abf98f9dd' only but this time after installation it is 'devhbvirtualnetwork' which is network name in azure.
I do auto-connect of VPN using powershell script for which I use rasphone. The installed 44e272d5-32d0-498f-8644-5c9abf98f9dd.pbk file contains entry for devhbvirtualnetwork so I am not able to connect VPN automatically.
Can you please help?
We have bandwidth numbers available for VM on azure but I don't see any number associated to bandwidth available for S2S or P2S VPNs.
The official documentation (FAQ) says that all VPNs will share the bandwidth available for Azure VPN Gateway but no mention about how much bandwidth does the Gateway get on first place?
I understand that "throughput" is complex to measure as it depends on many factors so please don't add comments related to getting exact speed with VPN. All I want to know is what does Azure offer? I'll do remaining calculation.
Hello,
Install Certificate and Client Package and when I try to connect it shows the following error
"A certificate could not be found that can be used with this Extensible Authentication Protocol. (Error 798) For customised troubleshooting information for this connection"
I have checked both cert are installed under current user in both personal and trusted root, and have tried every resource we can
We have successfully installed using same settings & process on Windows 7 without problem, the log file is as follows
******************************************************************Hi Experts,
There are two separate subscriptions in Azure in which we have already VNET created, on the same VNET there is no site to site vpn option enabled, so I have different scenarios as below along with questions related to this.
I will create two VNET in one subscription (We will use IaaS nothing else) named VNET1 and VNET 2, VNET 1 will be used for external web sites which is why we do not want to enable communication with VNET2, VNET2 will have a site to site VPN established with our on premises, VNET1 has its own Active Directory and VNET 2 will have its own Active Directory (I am not talking about Windows Azure Active Directory) these Active Directories has nothing to do with each other. Currently we will go with this design (I hope there is nothing wrong in it), for VNET 1 we will use 192.168.16.0/24 and VNET we will use 192.168.0.0/24. In the future we might need both VNET to communicate with each other, which means we will need to connect VNET to VNET communication, my questions are
1. Can we enable site to site vpn option once the vnet is created as VNET 1 is not created using site to site vpn option enabled.
2. If it is possible then how to enable it as I do not see the option available
3. If it is not possible then how to design VNET1 in a way that currently it would not communicate with VNET 2 as well as in the future we would enable communication between VNET1 and VNET2 by creating the site to site vpn between VNET1 and VNET2.
4. lets say that VNET 2 is already enabled for site to site VPN with our on premises and once it is required to create site to site vpn between VNET 1 and VNET 2, where site to site vpn of VNET2 with our on premises should remain same as well as we will add one more site to site vpn between VNET2 and VNET1 is it possible, if yes would it break the VNET2 site to site vpn with on premises or it would only connect with one either on premises or VNET1.
5. What if in the future we want to enable VNET to VNET vpn connection between two subscription where we already have a VNET 2 which is connected with on premises as well as with VNET1 and we now want VNET2 to connect with another VNET in another subscription as well as we would like to have a communication / connectivity as below
VNET2 with VNET in another subscription
VNET2 with VNET1
is it possible with question number 5 and we should not loos connectivity between any of the Vnet or vnet to on premises. ofcourse I know that network should not collapse with each other.
6. by achieving question number 5, VNET from another subscription can communicate with our on premises network through VNET2 and VNET from another subscription can also communicate with VNET1 through VNET2 as well as VNET2 and VNET 1can communicate with VNET from another subscription and VNET1 and VNET 2 can also communicate with another subscription's on premises network using VNET, please correct me if I misunderstood some thing as well as how this will be achieveable by adding network ips of each network on local network option of each VNETs.
I hope it is not too complicated.
Thanks

Hello everyone
I'm absolutely new to Windows Azure and loving every second of it. I'm trying to get a small infrastructure set up, and because I'm new to everything, I'm a bit lost.
I have two virtual machines created, one running IIS and my web page, I have the available ports opened through the firewall (both the load balancer/endpoint and the host firewall). But in my research, to get these two virtual machines to talk to each other, they needed to be provisioned on the same network. Now, they're presently on different networks (one has an address of 100.75.86.41 and the other 100.74.220.51, but I want them (and the future machines) to be able to talk to each other (reasons being Internal DNS/Active Directory/Exchange, etc.).
How can I do that?
Thanks!
Task is to establish VPN from Site to Azure.
On premise site contains Small Business server 2008. RRAS role is installed and is used as VPN server. VPN is connected using hostname (which internally assigns dynamic IP). Internet is provided through ADSL router. RRAS server is behind firewall(hardware appliance).
VPN is not getting connected and I suspect it is due to Azure VPN supports minimum OS configuration of Win 2012.
Does anyone have workaround or any suggestion except upgrading the server to Windows 2012.

I have setup vNet/AG on Azure and installed VPN client on my location machine.
When I connect to Azure VPN I can access Azure servers (RDP) and work on those.
But I lose internet on my local machine. I can't ping any site.
My internet IPv4 setting are all set to "Obtain Automatically"

Hi,
I have two Windows Server 2012 Datacenter R2 VMs setup on Windows Azure. Both of the VMs reside within the same could services and same Virtual Network. I did not setup the active directory and Two VMs working fine as work-groups.
Now I'm trying to deploy my application (.NET 4.5 MVC) thorough the VS 2012 publish GUI but I'm receiving the following message when I'm trying to validate the connection.
Connected to '<sitename>.cloudapp.net' using the Web Deployment Agent Service, but could not authorize. Make sure you are an administrator on '<sitename>.cloudapp.net'. Learn more at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=221672#ERROR_USER_NOT_ADMIN. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
I used the built in administrator account as I don't have domain administrator account since I'm running the VMs as workgroups.
Note: I'm receiving the same error message from both VMs within the virtual network. However I got the deployment working for a VM which is outside of the Virtual Network.
I'm too tired of reading related posts and trying different things. I think I need a help to resolve this matter.
Thanks in Advance!
Hello
I have three subscriptions with that virtual networks:
subscription 1 --> 10.0.0.0
subscription 2 --> 10.1.0.0
subscription 3 --> 10.2.0.0
Is possible connect subscription 2 and subscription 3 to subscription 1 using vnet vnet configuration? Now vnet-vnet between subscription 1 and 2 is working fine but we need connect subscription 3 to subscription 1 virtual network.
Thank you in advance
Hi ,
i have some basic question in mind,
we have designed the virtual network and added the gate way through which we have routed our traffic.
what if the gateway got corrupt ? how we will over come this problem ? how can we monitor the gateway ?
I set up a virtual network on Azure and have two different desktops (both running Windows 8.1) in two different locations connected point-to-site to the virtual network. Is it possible to have these two PCs treat each other like they are on the same local network? Like be able to share files and remote desktop connection through them? Or even use HomeGroup? I saw else where that HomeGroup used IPv6 which you cannnot do through VPN, but all those answers where 3 years ago, so maybe something has changed.
I already have then both connected now, but right now they cannot ping each other.
We are working to create some A8 and A9 nodes for an application. We have an existing Site to Site VPN, Vnet and affinity group. When we attempt to build the VM and chose the Vnet we are told this is not permitted. When we choose the affinity group it allows us to continue but the VM provisioning fails.
I am trying to understand if this is a design or if we have an issue in our configuration.
Windows Azure's portal is sick.
I created a virtual network in HK, but every time I create a new virtual machine, I can not select to assign the VM to that virtual network.
Logout, refresh page are not working.
I do not want use power shell because I using Linux for administration.
So what should I do?
