RDP copying issues

Hi guys,

I seem to be hitting an interesting issue with my Azure environment. When RDPing into my servers, it appears that any files which are larger than a certain size through up issues during copy/paste from my local machine. I'm going over a VPN and the RDP is fine - the moment I try to copy something (say, over 10MB), I receive an error:

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Error 0x800703E3: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.

After hitting re-try, I get "Out of memory - There is not enough memory to complete this operation."

Any ideas/tips. I've tried to have a look around, but I couldn't really find anything concrete.

Routing of Point to Site VPN traffic that is destined for O365 Power BI or other Microsoft SaaS / PaaS

Hello,

I have tried to find a definitive answer for this but so far have been unable to and so am looking to this community for direction.

Currently we have an On Prem setup where our remote users VPNs terminate.

We are also currently building up a presence in Azure IaaS. (The on Prem and IaaS are currenlty connected via Site to Site VPN)

As we are now planning the topology of our future network and so we are looking at whether or not it makes sense to move our VPN headend into the Cloud. The question I have been unable to answer is how a remote users traffic which teminates in Azure IaaS for a Microsoft PaaS or SaaS service would be routed.

Would it stay internal to Microsoft's networks, and therefore not be liable for egress charges or would it exit IaaS and traverse the public net and then enter Microsoft again, and so be liable for egress charges?

I hope that I have been able to fully explain the query properly and any direction will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Creating Endpoints with Public & Private Ports

Hi,

I used to create Endpoints with different Public & Private Ports when I was using Classic VMs.

Eg: Public Port: 443 | Private Port: 50000

Since I have started use ARM, I am unable to create with different Public & Private Ports. But only able to create one port (Destination Port) which will be the same port number for both.

How can I achieve this using ARM?

Best Regards,

Rashid Bari.

"Always-ON VPN" with Azure gateway !

Hi

I am trying to setup "Always-ON VPN" with Azure Gateway (Active-Active)- I have some concerns as following

1. If I have to provide fault tolerance to the NPS ,I will require an certificate for both the NPS servers behind the load-balancer (LB) .Can I use  existing wild card certificate for it .Or I will require new certificate (assume I don't have any CA solution on-).What is the certificate requirements for NPS ?

2. For the Windows 10 PCs for certificate authentication can I use the same wild card certificate or what is the certificate requirements for the client PCs

3. Can I use the MFA with it or what is the requirement, if I am terminating the connection on Azure.

4. Also if I have an existing Direct Access solution. How can I migrate to "Always-ON" or move away from it once Always-ON solution is active.
How should I plan DA move to "Always-ON VPN"

Thank you all

Regards

Hello.

In one VNet we use, there are two VPN Gateways (Type: Express Route and Type: P2S VPN).
ExpressRoute is connected to our data center.

Is it possible to connect to a server in the data center from a PC using P2S VPN via ExpressRoute?

Disassociate WAF Policy from AppGW

Hi,

How do you disassociate a WAF Policy from an AppGW and finally delete it? Terraform will not allow AppGW management with the WAF Policy associated. My goal is delete the WAF policy but I believe you will have to disassociate first.

Thanks,

Johnson Anya.

Site 2 site VPN with Windows Firewall?

$

Hello,

I'm new to Azure and I'm setting up site 2 site VPN between on premises and Azure. On the on premise site, I'm using Windows Server 2016.

When I use a Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) dialup interface, this works. Now I'm trying to use Windows Firewall instead of RRAS and I created a connection security rule for IPsec but i have been unsuccessful so far. The connection is not made, neither main nor quick mode.

The source I found for this is quite old (from 2012). Are there any recent instructions for how to set the proper settings?

azure app service can not connect to SQL database using private IP

The app service and SQL database are on different subnet, same VNET.

The purpose we want to use private IP to do the connection is: we want to close the SQL database accessibility to public internet, to make it secure.

And the purpose we keep app services and SQL databases on different subnet, is also for security purpose. So in case our app services are hacked into, hacker would have limited capability to further hack our SQL databases.

But while we are tying, we get error message that SQL database are not reachable.

Anybody had done this before? and can share some experience with us?

Thanks,

Harry

I have a VM in spoke 1 and another in spoke 2 that I’m trying to reach from each VNet via vwan hub but cannot.
No errors but cannot ping or rdp to each server in spoke VNet.

common space to store files uploaded from vms created across the zones

I am trying to create a set of VMs across the zones. In Australia & Southeast Asia.

I need common entity (Disk, share or any) to hold my uploaded files from the vms from different locations. I have looked at Azure File share. But I understand this is restricted to a zone. It is not available across the zones, So that it can be accessible from every VM in both the zones.

Is there any such feature in Azure, that will help to solve my problem?

How to find ExpressRoute usage?

Hi, I have established two ExpressRoute connections for our subscription.

Previously I was able to view the usage (such as "123 of 150 used") in the Subscription > Usage + Quota blade. I could no longer find the usage in that blade. When I searched for it under Usage + Quota, I could only find "Network Interfaces" with "Microsoft.Network" provider for my region as "123 of 65536 used". I do not believe I have been approved for "65536" Express Route IP addresses, so I don't know if that information is correct any more. I think that max number should be close to either 150 or 200.

The reason I asked is because I want to plan for my usage. Depends on my usage, I can plan for 27 more VMs (if up to 150) or 77 more VMs (if up to 200), right? If 65536, then... it's a whole different story. :)

Does anyone know how that information (my current usage of ExpressRoute) can be found?

Thank you,

John Huang (JoHuang)

Hello all,

We huge a Azure footprint and hybrid connectivity with Azure ExpressRoute...now we are looking at some mutli-cloud infrastructure connectivity using AWS and I'm considering what's most optimal path for connection can we explore S2S VPN btw Azure and AWS or can ER be extended to AWS for this connectivity.

Whose internet is used when you download/install software packages on a Azure VM?

As it must be quite apparent, I am a newbie. I just created a Ubuntu VM on azure and installed docker using apt-get.
While it was downloading packages, a question came to my mind. Whose internet is VM using? My home internet? Seems very unlikely. But then does Microsoft provide internet to VMs? if so what is the bandwidth?

Azure VWAN Point-to-Site VPN (Policy Configuration)

Hi,

Our organization is creating out point-to-site setup for work from home individuals due to the global outbreak.

we have already setup the VWAN and setup the VPN configurations for P2S with an address pool for eastasia.

but the problem is that the policies we can setup for this covers the whole block of an address pool in Azure firewall.

can we have a more granular policy just like an on-premise firewall?

Thanks in advance!

Scans/DDos coming from Microsoft ip subnet range - no reponse from abuse@microsoft.com

Hello,

We have recently started trying out Azure - and host a VM with email server.

We have to use Azure provided smtp relay - which in itself is a security risk. For instance we had raised a support ticket and the technician was able to send email fully authenticated email from our domain. I understand we can request to allow SMTP traffic from the public IP of VM - is this correct ? and how can we do it?

Meanwhile we started to receive SMTP port scans / nmap type scans looking for open relay. We have raised ticket with Microsoft CERT but have not heard anything back. References are:

Microsoft CERT Report 78f5149d-2f19-4284-bdab-ed441563f049 Received
CERT# 78f5149d-2f19-4284-bdab-ed441563f049 escalated to [#A3218176]
CERT# 78f5149d-2f19-4284-bdab-ed441563f049 escalated to [#SIR1045250

Overnight we had 11 attempts from 11 Microsoft IPs which is an escalation. Please assist.
