Retaining On-Prem IP after ASR failover to Azure

Hi Expert,

I'm trying to fully understand the technical article here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/concepts-on-premises-to-azure-networking that mentions how to retain IPs from an On-prem address range in Azure and assign the IPs to VMs in Azure by doing a "Subnet Failover". In the instruction steps it states  "They need to modify routes, to reflect that 192.168.1.0/24 has now moved to Azure".

My question are as follows

1. How is the modification of the above routes going to be achieved. I'm guessing this is from the On-prem router

2. Will the VPN gateway in Azure need to be reconfigured to accommodate the subnet (192.168.1.0/24) or a just VNet peering to the existing Azure VNet will make it functional.

3. Has anyone dealt with this in the field?
