Gatewaysize for coexisting Expressroute and Site-to-Site VPN

Hi All,

I'm in the process of configuring Expressroute in our azure environment.
We already have multiple VNETs with multiple Site-to-Site VPN connections across different subscriptions.

Im reading and following both these guides.
1. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/expressroute-configuring-exps/
2. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/expressroute-coexist/

I understand that i have to recreate the existing gateways to be able to connect expressroute as the
second article says.

Now to the question :)
In the first article it says "The Virtual Network Gateway must be created with a /28 subnet"
But in the other it says "The gateway subnet for the virtual network must be /27 (or a shorter prefix)".
I'm wondering if someone knows if it is neccesary for the gateway to be /27 (or a shorter prefix) if you
have muliple site-to-site VPN connections that coexists with Expressroute?

Thanks!
