New Portal with existing Virtual Network "Too Narrow"

On the current Portal (manage.windowsazure.com), I am trying to create a new D-Series VM and connect it to our existing virtual network. I end up getting the following message:

"The VM size (or combination of VM sizes) required by this deployment cannot be provisioned due to deployment request constraints. If possible, try relaxing constraints such as virtual network bindings, deploying to a hosted service with no other deployment in it and to a different affinity group or with no affinity group, or try deploying to a different region. The long running operation tracking ID was: xxxxxx"

If I remove the VN requirement but use the same data center it works fine.

I can create an A-Series VM connected to the network with no issues.

I go to the new portal (portal.azure.com)  and I can't even create an A-Series machine connected to the virtual network as it says: "Narrow virtual networks are not supported."

Any ideas what is going on?
